Caption by Hyatt Namba Osaka celebrates its first anniversary! Live painting by Sumi-e artist Okazu to update Namba with Sumi-e and limited lunch
Caption by Hyatt Namba Osaka will celebrate its first anniversary on Thursday, June 12. To commemorate this milestone, we will be holding a special event themed around community ties and sustainability. We have invited “Okazu,” an Osaka-based ink painting artist who expresses everything from animals to nature, with a focus on warlords of the Warring States period, and whose activities are expanding worldwide, to hold a powerful live painting event. The dynamic ink painting art inspired by the hotel will be performed live at Talk Shop, a cafe and bar on the first floor of the hotel. The event will be open to everyone to see the new expression of sumi-e, a fusion of tradition and innovation.
In addition, the hotel will offer a “First Anniversary Lunch Set” featuring seasonal ingredients from the nearby Kuromon Market, "Osaka's kitchen” and a taste of “Eemon” (food) that is rich in Kansai culinary culture. The “First Anniversary Lunch Set” will be offered. As a token of our gratitude for the many ingredients provided since the hotel's opening, we have lined up a seafood bowl using seasonal fish from Fukahiro, a long-established restaurant in Kuromon Market that has been in business for over 120 years, and pickles from Iseya Honten, which has maintained its traditional manufacturing methods for 128 years. The “good food” of the Kuromon Market, combined with Osaka's dashi (Japanese soup stock) culture, will satisfy your appetite and allow you to feel the connection with the local community through all five senses.

Sumi-e Artist Okazu
Born in 1985 and currently living in Osaka.
He draws life as if he were writing calligraphy, focusing on warlords, animals, and nature.
He has developed a unique style in which he does not use shading in ink, and pursues the beauty of the contrast between black and white.
Started Sumi-e activities in 2005.
